Rangers set to table pre-contract offers to Danilho Doekhi and John Souttar – report

Rangers are set to table two pre-contract offers to sign Hearts defender John Souttar and Vitesse skipper Danilho Doekhi this month.

That’s according to The Sun, who report on their website that Giovanni van Bronckhorst wants strong defensive reinforcements.

It is suggested that the offers will come in the next three weeks, with the potential to even make both permanent before the deadline.

There are doubts regarding the future of Connor Goldson at Ibrox with his current deal also expiring at the end of the season.

Add to that the injury worries of Filip Helander and Leon Balogun, and this is a real problem area for the Bears.

Jack Simpson is also likely to leave the club permanently [The Athletic], so two new signings are smart business.

Get it done.

This would be wonderful business.

Thankfully, contract offers look to be imminent in the next three weeks and even bringing one of the two in permanent in January would help.

Souttar is one of the best central defenders in the Scottish Premiership this season, and his experience would be brilliant to have on board.

Add to that Doekhi, who has captained Vitesse in competitions such as the Europa Conference League, and Ross Wilson could pull off a blinder here.

It is time to make a real statement of intent after the sale of Nathan Patterson, and it looks as though this is exactly what these deals are going to be.

Get it done.
