Rangers could have upperhand for John Souttar deal in January, mum is Ibrox season ticket holder – David Edgar

Rangers could have the upperhand for Hearts defender John Souttar in January, according to David Edgar.

The Heart and Hand regular has shared the latest news with Souttar available to sign a pre-contract move this month.

Edgar has reported that the Bears could look to pay a fee to make it permanent before the end of January as they did with Scott Wright last year.

Speaking on the Heart and Hand Patreon this week (06/01), Edgar shared the big news that could tip the balance in our favour.

“Rangers look to be pursuing Hearts defender John Souttar, who is of course out of contract in the summer,” he said.

“He is therefore allowed to sign a pre-contract with whoever he wishes to, he’s perfectly entitled to negotiate with clubs.

“Rangers are interested in bringing him to Ibrox, and probably would look to do so alas Scott Wright and Glen Kamara, get him in this window if that was possible, of course, it might not be.

“The player has a big decision to make whether or not he wants to go down south. The connection to Rangers and family reasons, his mum is a season ticket holder at Ibrox, believe it or not, might tip the balance towards Rangers with the player said to be keen on making the move.”

Get it done.

This is ticking every single box as things stand.

Souttar couldn’t be more perfect for the Bears at this moment in time, and Ross Wilson simply has to get this deal over the line.

Filip Helander and Leon Balogun both have their injury issues, and with Connor Goldson set to leave as things stand in the summer, the defence needs reinforcing.

We can be hoping that Souttar’s mum is already in his ear trying to make sure he moves to Ibrox and can be watched every single week by her.

Hearts can keep their defender until the end of the season, but if he does sign a pre-contract to move to Ibrox, surely they would want a fee rather than keeping someone who is looking forward to the next step.

Time to step this up.
