Nathan Patterson sale to hand Giovanni van Bronckhorst major Rangers financial leeway in January

The impending sale of Nathan Patterson at Rangers is set to give Giovanni van Bronckhorst major financial leeway in January.

That’s according to the Scottish Daily Mail, who share that the £12million move plus add-ons is set to go through this week.

Three names have already been mooted for a move to Ibrox with that money too, with James Sand, Andreas Skov Olsen and Crysencio Summerville the three singled out.

This is looking as though it will be a huge month for Rangers.

Selling players was always on the cards after missing out on the Champions League and announcing significant losses after COVID-19.

Having said that, selling Patterson for such a big amount of money should solve those issues and keep the main starting XI together and untouched.

On top of that, it gives Van Bronckhorst the ability to not only be linked with three players to strengthen that squad, but to actually bring them in.

Good luck.

Patterson has always been destined for the top, and although it will be a real shame to let him go, it is certainly the best for both parties.

Getting up to £16million with a sell-on clause is a magnificent piece of business for someone who hasn’t even played 50 games for the club yet.

Of course, he was good enough to fill that role for years, but James Tavernier isn’t going anywhere soon and he has been the best right-back in Scotland for years himself.

This not only sets a benchmark for any club wanting our best talent, but it makes us serious players in this window now, something that the likes of Celtic certainly wouldn’t have wanted.

It is time to put this to good use.
