Jim White disagrees with Danny Murphy’s Rangers-Celtic hypothetical

Jim White disagrees with Danny Murphy’s claims that he would celebrate scoring a goal for Rangers against Celtic by riling up the opposition fans.

The duo were speaking on talkSPORT on Monday (January 3) afternoon and discussing the two bottle-throwing incidents that took place in the Premier League.

Murphy claimed that Rodri had every right to celebrate Manchester City’s winning goal in front of the Arsenal fans.

He said, “All [Rodri] did was take his shirt off and slide on his knees!”

White interjected and responded, “Celebrate all you like, just don’t incite.”

To which Murphy offered the Gers fans cum show host a hypothetical scenario.

He said, “Jim, if you’d scored a winner in the Old Firm derby and the Celtic fans were 30 yards away and you were playing for Rangers I know where you’d be.

“You’d be 30 yards away giving it to Celtic fans.”

Laughing this off, White replied, “That’s a dreadful assertion.”

He probably would

White has to appear poised here because he’s live-on-air but we all know about his love for Rangers.

As a player, there may be fewer moments that make you happier than scoring a winner against your rivals.

Rangers and Celtic are far more than two teams fighting for bragging rights.

Watching them from an early age, White would know what a win in the Old Firm means to every supporter of the club.

In such situations, emotions do tend to get the better of players and if he’s been given a hard time by the opposition fans, the best way to silence them would be to celebrate in front of them.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have been handed a boost to complete a major January signing and £2m could seal the deal
