Giovanni van Bronckhorst to be given extra funds for Rangers January transfer window
Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be given a portion of the money to spend in January following the agreement of a deal to sell Nathan Patterson to Everton, according to The Athletic.
It was reported by Fabrizio Romano that a deal to take the young defender to the Premier League had been agreed, with Gers expected to receive a record £12m fee from Everton.
It’s now been suggested however that Rangers will reinvest ‘a portion’ of that money back into the side, with Van Bronckhorst being given extra funds from the deal to bolster his squad.

The club won’t necessarily look to sign a new right-back with the money, with James Tavernier, Leon Balogun and Ryan Jack all capable of playing there.
It would allow Van Bronckhorst to strengthen other areas of the squad, as Rangers look to win back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles and enjoy a run in the Europa league too.
Investment
While selling Patterson isn’t necessarily something all fans will agree with, Rangers being able to invest that money back into the squad for the manager is perfect.
Receiving a record fee for a player who has made just 15 starts for the club in his career is huge, and with van Bronckhorst likely keen to add his own touch to the squad he will now be boosted by the extra funds.

It also means that the club are unlikely to have to let other stars leave mid-season, with the likes of Joe Aribo, Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Glen Kamara all linked with moves away too.
They don’t need the cash and can keep their strongest team in years together to try and achieve success this season before re-evaluating the situation in the summer.
This is a scenario in which all parties win, and GvB can now start to plan on how to add his own flavour to an already successful squad.
