BBC: Rangers may 'cash in' on Joe Aribo in January transfer window
Rangers may look to “cash in” on playmaker Joe Aribo in the upcoming January transfer window at Ibrox.
That’s according to the BBC, who has shared the latest with the market opening in less than one week in Europe.
Aribo’s current deal runs out at the end of next season, and signing a new contract is said to be off the table at this moment in time with interest from the Premier League.
Writing in their latest blog ahead of the window, BBC shared the latest state of play at Ibrox regarding their big names.
“Rangers star Aribo has played over 100 games since joining from Charlton in 2019 and lifted the Scottish Premiership last season,” they wrote.
“The versatile Nigeria international recently scored a stunning goal against Livingston and, with his contract expiring in 2023, Rangers may look to cash in during the transfer window.”
The Bears are currently going through the exact same issue with Connor Goldson, and that proves Aribo will be going nowhere next month.
It could have been easy to cash in on the defender during the summer, but the Bears have kept hold of him, knowing that the defender playing a vital role in lifting the Scottish Premiership again is more important.
Winning the league will send us straight into the Champions League group stage next season, and that is a guaranteed £40million windfall – more than we would get for selling Goldson and Aribo combined.
Aribo is here for another year and more as things stand, and Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be concentrating on things on the pitch over the break, rather than those who could be leaving the club.
No chance of this one happening.
