Simon Jordan hails winter break change in Scotland, drops Rangers v Celtic claim

Simon Jordan has hailed the winter break being brought forward in Scotland despite Rangers campaigning against it.

The controversial talkSPORT pundit alongside Jim White insisted that Nicola Sturgeon had “ridiculously overreacted” with the cap on attendances.

Despite the Bears being against it, Jordan claimed some may think this is the Old Firm teams “getting together” to make it happen.

Speaking live on talkSPORT this morning (23rd December), Jordan reacted to the news of the winter break in Scotland.

“Smart move,” he said. “If your government is going to ridiculously overreact, you’ve got to give them a bit credit when they look at it and say ‘let’s think our way through this problem, let’s think of a solution.’

“A mid-season break, let’s bring it forward to protect and preserve the sanctity of big games like Celtic v Rangers.

“I know they’ll say this is the Old Firm getting together because they don’t want to play games in front of empty houses. I think it’s good for Scottish Football.”

Good idea?

It is interesting to see who this is a good idea for? Celtic were the ones pushing for this and it is no surprise to see their injury list coincides with that.

There are only two games being missed by this, and they have been rearranged for the start of February.

Nicola Sturgeon has been strict with her methods, so in the space of just over a month, we don’t expect full capacities to be back.

Given that Rangers were one of only two clubs to reject the proposal, it looks as though Jordan hasn’t read up on the facts as it would be impossible for the Old Firm to be accused of working together.

All we can do for now is smash St Mirren on Boxing Day, enjoy our break and get stuck back into the action at the end of next month.
