Jordan Campbell: Rangers looking at Bosman deals in January, numerous wingers mooted

Rangers will be looking at the Bosman market to seal pre-contract moves in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Athletic journalist Jordan Campbell has mooted three potential signings, with a winger and two central defenders a possibility.

Ross Wilson is said to always have a plan in place, with Anderlecht’s Francis Amuzu one of the first names mentioned for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad.

Writing in his Transfer Mailbag for The Athletic, Campbell shared that out wide is somewhere that the Bears are looking at.

“That is a position that I understand they are looking at,” he said.

“Van Bronckhorst likes direct players and it is no surprise that a player like Anderlecht’s Francis Amuzu has been linked as that profile would provide a similar option to Kent on the left.

“Rangers have shown that they plan well for the transfer window, which is why pre-contracts have been common, and the centre-back position is one that is in need of strengthening.

“They will likely need at least two in over the next two windows.”

No surprise.

It looks as though a new winger is an immediate priority for Van Bronckhorst, especially given that nearly every single link has been to a wide attacker so far.

Ryan Kent has solidified his spot on the left, but the lack of out-and-out wingers on the opposite flank is something that needs addressing.

It is interesting to hear that two defenders may be brought to the club before the end of the summer window.

That could likely mean that we can all-but-wave goodbye to Connor Goldson, and Wilson could be looking for his replacement already rather than looking to extend his contract.
