Rangers winger Josh McPake set for January exit

Rangers youngster Josh McPake is heading towards the Ibrox exit on loan, according to reports from the Daily Record.

The report claims that Carlisle United are looking to win the race to sign the 20-year-old winger in January.

Keith Millen, the Carlise boss, is desperate to land the youngster, and he is looking to get the ‘deal done’ as quickly as possible.

Competition

McPake has struggled for regular game time at Morecambe. His injury issues have been a concern and Rangers are looking to terminate the loan deal.

He has made just three starts in his current loan spell.

Numerous clubs are lining up to sign McPake on loan for the rest of the season, with the Daily Record reporting the likes of Bradford, Oldham, Salford, Tranmere and Barrow are keen for his signature.

However, it looks as though Carlisle are leading the chase and are looking to make contact with the Gers to sign him in January on loan.

Another loan move away from Ibrox is perfect for him, McPake is a promising young talent but has only managed seven appearances for Morecambe this season.

It seems he will prove himself again, and joining a league two club won’t be a bad option.

At this moment, he needs regular minutes. It remains to be seen if Rangers can manage a loan deal for him to any Scottish Premiership side, which would be ideal for his development.
