Hagi ready to take Rangers career to the next level under van Bronckhorst

Ianis Hagi has expressed his admiration Giovanni van Bronckhorst as he looks to take his game to the next level under the Rangers’ manager.

The 23-year-old was named sponsors’ man of the match on Saturday (18 December), a decision that Gers fans inside the ground were not in agreement with.

Hagi has enjoyed good form under his new manager as Van Bronckhorst’s side continue their unbeaten run under the Dutchman.

Rangers

“Now being under a coach that has played at the highest level, a leader, a captain for the national team as well in his time, it is just a privilege and I just want to bring my game to the next level,” said Hagi, as quoted by STV News.

“The way he thinks about football, I love it and I see myself playing in different positions and I just enjoy it.

“I am not taking anything for granted and every second at the training ground and at the stadium I am trying to learn.

“I am being open to playing different positions and just trying to get my game to the next level, it is that simple for me.”

Gratitude

The Romanian international hasn’t been shy in expressing his gratitude when it comes to managers as he looks to kickstart his career in the UK.

Rangers

Hagi admitted he became a ‘more complete player’ under former manager Steven Gerrard whom he learnt a lot from in terms of the team aspect of football.

Something the winger may need to go back over his notes on as he attempted a Rabona pass that gave away possession in the late stages of Rangers narrow victory over Dundee United – with fans outraged he did not attempt to run down the clock in the corner of the pitch.

Hagi is a young player with undeniable talent with seven goal involvements in 24 games so far but there is a lot of room for improvement which is what will be expected of him as he looks to build on a good start to his Rangers career.
