Tom English stunned by Rangers change under Giovanni van Bronckhorst v Lyon
Tom English has handed a rare piece of praise to Rangers after their 1-1 draw against Lyon on Thursday evening (9th December).
The Bears kept their unbeaten run under Giovanni van Bronckhorst intact, and possibly deserved even more as they move onto the knockout stages of the Europa League
Van Bronckhorst has changed the way his full-backs play at Ibrox, with their more disciplined approach catching the eye of English.

Writing for the BBC from their coverage of the game, English was blown away by the “Excellent” display across the channel.
“Rangers have looked solid at the back and they’ve got a good shape out there,” he wrote.
“After the Hibs debacle in the semi-final, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has opted for solidity at the back. There’s no bombing full-backs. This is an excellent performance from Rangers.”

One moment.
It was a disciplined performance at the back from Rangers, with Borna Barisic and Nathan Patterson standing strong.
Unfortunately, it was one moment of slack defending that cost us the three points in what would have been a huge result.
Barisic didn’t get out to Rayan Cherki quick enough, letting him fire a wicked ball across the box which left Calvin Bassey helpless as it deflected off him into the net.
All in all, it was another great display to build on against a side much higher in ability than others van Bronckhorst has come up against.
Solidarity will be key again as we travel to Hearts on Sunday (12th December) with keeping that home crowd quiet essential.
