Writing in the Daily Record transfer blog [8 December], Ben Banks shared the latest ahead of a potential move in 2022.

“The MLS season is on the brink of completion and Toure has spent the season on loan at USL Championship club Colorado Springs Switchbacks,” he wrote.

“He is attracting big-name interest ahead of the full off-season, with Arsenal one club believed to be keen.

“The Gunners have taken him for training purposes and Toure, 17, has already reportedly had a similar experience at Ibrox.”

Race is on?

With numerous changes in recent weeks, it is yet known if Toure training with the Bears was under the new team that Giovanni van Bronckhorst has put together.

The young winger is backed by numerous plaudits online and has represented the American national team at youth level in the past.

Compared to Yaya Toure, you can assume that as well as his pace and trickery out wide, the winger is as powerful as they come.

The Bears have their connections to the United States given their partnership with Orange County, with players such as Jamie Barjonas benefitting from that in the past.

Toure also training with Arsenal shows that he has real promise to make it in Britain, and with January coming up, the race could be on.

If he did impress at Auchenhowie, it may make sense for Ross Wilson to try and set a deal up early in order to beat the competition – time will tell.
