BBC pundit Charlie Adam destroys Rangers defender Borna Barisic v Lyon

Charlie Adam has destroyed Rangers defender Borna Barisic after the Europa League clash against Lyon this evening (9th December).

The Bears went into the break one goal to the good but immediately threw away that lead through a Calvin Bassey own-goal only minutes after half-time.

Barisic didn’t close down Rayan Cherki, who had time to fire a wicked ball across the box which Bassey could do nothing about as it flew off him into the net.

Speaking on live coverage of the clash on the BBC, Adam was not impressed with what he saw from Barisic down the left.

“Brilliant play from Lyon but Barisic has to do better, he never gets close enough to his man, allows him to get a shot across,” he said.

“It’s not good enough.”

Not good enough.

We have seen this problem so many times with Barisic.

For all the good work he does going forward and from set-pieces, he can be massively exposed when one on one with his opposing number.

Cherki is one of the brightest talents in Europe, so giving him that much time to do a few tricks and get a cross in, is simply outrageous.

How many times are we going to have this argument? Something needs to click quickly, or some sort of change will need to be made.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will not be best pleased with what he saw, and if Adam can spot it, it’s something that will be coming up straight away before the trip to Hearts.
