Emergency proceedings set for French Supreme Court over Rangers development v Lyon
Rangers fans were banned from making the trip to Lyon on Monday only three days before their Europa League clash.
In a somewhat unbelievable twist, the Football Supporters Europe [FSE] have launched emergency proceedings with the French Administrative Supreme Court.
Described as a democratic voice for European fans, the FSE claim the decision was “blatantly illegal” and have been joined by the Association Nationale des Supporters.

Writing on their official Twitter account with over 10,000 followers last night [6th December], the FSE shared this message;
“The decision to ban Rangers fans from travelling to Lyon is an unacceptable restriction on freedom of movement & blatantly illegal,” they wrote.
“Together with AN Supporters, we have filed an emergency proceeding with the French Administrative Supreme Court.”
Wow.
Followed by respected journalists such as Henry Winter and Simon Stone, who have covered the game all over Europe, this looks as though they could force change.
Things are really starting to heat up since the decision was made on Monday, something that left the Bears “bemused”.
Whether it is indeed illegal to make this decision, there is nothing official to prove that, and it is unknown whether they can use COVID-19 as a reason.
Hopefully, this sparks change in the next 24 hours and those who had planned to travel over to France can still make it to cheer on the boys across the channel.
Expect movement on this one, and who knows? We could all get what we want in the end – time will tell.
