Ally McCoist silences Chris Sutton perfectly over Rangers penalty dig

Ally McCoist has perfectly silenced Chris Sutton yet again as Rangers getting penalties came into the discussion once again.

Sutton labelled John Beaton as “Brother Beaton” as the referee rightly gave the Bears a spot-kick against Hibernian on Wednesday (1st December).

McCoist hit back at that instantly, sharing that Beaton had actually given more penalties to Celtic than Rangers in recent years.

Speaking on BT Scottish Football Extra last night, McCoist perfectly silenced Sutton after looking into the matter.

“I thought Chris might go down this road, and I checked up in the last five or six years John Beaton has given more penalties to Celtic than Rangers,” he said.

“Now, I’m not sure if there is a conspiracy theory here, but he’s given Celtic more penalties then Rangers.”

Silenced.

Beaton is instantly one of the first officials to come to mind when making these big decisions in the Scottish Premiership.

He has certainly had nightmares though, including against Livingston towards the end of last season when he failed to hand Alfredo Morelos a clear penalty.

Sutton didn’t say anything about the clear Kyogo offside in Celtic’s “win” against Hearts the following night, though – something he must have forgotten.

McCoist is always on hand to give us a good laugh on a Friday evening, and what better way to do that than make Sutton look a fool?

It will never change, it will always remain the same with fans somehow believing that officials are handing the Bears big decision – whatever makes them sleep at night.
