Barry Ferguson suggests Rangers win v Hibs gives buzz in dressing room

Barry Ferguson has insisted that the Rangers squad will have been dancing in the tunnel after winning 1-0 against Hibernian on Wednesday night.

In a cagey contest between the two teams, the Gers sealed all three points thanks to a Kemar Roofe penalty in the 85th minute.

Just when it looked like the visitors may have to settle for a draw, a moment of brilliance from Ryan Kent tilted the game in Rangers favour.

Ferguson has suggested in his Daily Record column that there is no better feeling than to grind out a result

“Rangers may not have been at their best in the win over Hibs but believe me, those victories are the sweetest.

“Sticking four or five goals past an opponent is nice but it never gives you the kind of buzz you get when you’ve snatched the three points late on like the team did in Leith.

“And I bet the boys would have danced their way back down the tunnel at full-time knowing they’d just pulled off a major win – and the drive back along the M8 would certainly have flown along a lot quicker too.”

Massive win

Ferguson is absolutely spot on here.

There will be plenty of games when Rangers will breeze past opponents and score loads of goals.

However, in tight and feisty contests, sometimes all it requires is a moment of inspiration to break the other team down.

Scoring a late winner is a fantastic feeling. It shows the mentality of a team that is not ready to wilt under pressure.

Likewise, it also gives huge confidence to get three points on board despite being not at your best.

It is too early to say what’s going to happen in the title race, but this will count as a massive victory if Rangers do end up as winners at the end of the campaign.

At the moment, consistency is required, and Rangers have picked up three wins in a row under their new manager, Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
