Paris Saint-Germain open to January loan exit for Xavi Simons as Rangers discuss deal

New Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst already has one eye on new transfers as he looks to bring Dutch compatriot Xavi Simmons over to Glasgow, according to TeamTalk.

The football news website reports that Paris Saint-Germain have started discussions with Simons and his representatives regarding the attacking midfielder’s future in Paris. The teenager’s deal expires next summer and it’s yet to be seen whether or not he will be able to gain valuable first-team experience at PSG.

TeamTalk adds that the French giants are happy to let the youngster leave on loan in January – granted he signs a new deal of course.

Bright young talent

Simons comes with a big reputation – some fans may remember him bursting onto the scene when he was just 13, touted as the next big thing – and PSG may be wary of letting him go for good.

The young player has only featured a handful of times for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and, now 18 years old, first-team football must be the priority for him.

Given Simons’ reputation, a host of teams are sure to be interested in signing the youngster if the opportunity arises, but it is Rangers who appear to be early frontrunners in the race for Simons’ signature, no thanks to new boss van Bronckhorst.

Van Bronckhorst is no stranger to the talents of Simons due to his Netherlands connections; the PSG youngster is a Dutch youth international having played for them at every level from schoolboy up to Under-19s. Given this connection, and the obvious talents of Simons, the Rangers boss is keen to bring him in if the opportunity presents itself.

The move looks like a good one for everybody involved, Rangers could benefit from the talents of Simons, whilst the Dutch youngster can gain invaluable first-team experience under fellow Dutchman can Bronckhorst.
