BBC pundit: Rangers ‘let themselves down’ with passing in 1-0 win v Hibernian

Rangers got their sweet revenge on Hibernian last night in the Scottish Premiership, leaving Easter Road with a 1-0 win.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst was made to wait until the final 10 minutes for the winner, with Kemar Roofe sliding home a penalty in front of the travelling fans.

Despite the big win, Richard Foster insisted that the Gers players “let themselves down” with their poor passing throughout.

Speaking on BBC Sportscene last night, Foster was far from pleased with what he saw from both sides at Easter Road.

“Rangers didn’t seem to push forward as much as they usually do,” he said.

“So, even from that point of view – I think the Rangers players and the Hibs players let themselves down in terms of passing the ball to each other, there were a lot of stray passes.

“Even then, it didn’t make for an end-to-end game.”

Still coming together.

Foster couldn’t be further wrong with his analysis from the win last night.

Yes, Rangers weren’t at their best, but this is only the third game of the new era under van Bronckhorst and they have had less than two weeks of training with the new boss.

Picking up huge wins such as this one is what wins clubs titles in Scotland, and being able to pick up the three points shows that the hunger and desire are still there in abundance.

Towards the end of Steven Gerrard’s reign at the start of this season, the Bears would have drawn this game and left disappointed, but this is a new start and what a result it was.

Six points from six in the Scottish Premiership is a brilliant start, long may it continue and trust us, the football will get much better.
