Rangers fly past Celtic in a major club ranking table
After three and a half years of brilliant progress, Rangers have just passed Celtic in UEFA’s coefficient table.
The Daily Record report that after the Gers’ 2-0 win over Sparta Prague, they sit in 43rd place, while the Bhoys are in 49th.
To put this into context, in 2018, the Bears sat in 206th position, but because of their runs in Europe under Steven Gerrard, they are now ahead of their inner-city rivals, which will go down very well on the blue side of Glasgow.

It is now there in black and white; the Gers are a bigger European team than Celtic, and the progress they have made has been superb.
Huge news for the Gers.
Now, of course, things like this can change, and with a couple of bad results, the Bears could slip behind the Bhoys.
However, the progress they have made in Europe is outstanding; they were even behind Aberdeen in 2018, so fair play to Gerrard.
He has laid the perfect foundations for Giovanni van Bronckhorst to build off and push the Gers even further up these rankings.

If they keep rising, then that will mean they are doing well in Europe, which will mean that the club is performing well.
So, these rankings are certainly important for everyone connected with the Gers, and it will be fascinating to see if they can keep progressing.
Well, they need to finish their Europa League campaign off first, and you would expect the Bears to travel to France in high spirits and feel confident after Thursday night.
In other Rangers news, van Bronckhorst has confirmed team news ahead of the Livingston game.
