Rangers duo Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun slammed by Kenny Miller
Kenny Miller was furious with the performance of Rangers duo Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun against Hibernian.
Hibs raced into a three-goal lead before the Gers pulled one back, but they couldn’t score anymore, and they are out of the Scottish League Cup.
Speaking on the BBC, the former Gers man revealed his thoughts on the Rangers duo who really struggled and were given the runaround by Martin Boyle and Kevin Nisbet.
He said: “The Rangers centre-halves need to stand up to the test Martin Boyle and Kevin Nisbet are posing; at the moment they are all over them, they are running amok.”
The truth is Goldson hasn’t been that good all season, and this was just another game in which he was horribly exposed at the back.
Balogun was perhaps a bit more of a surprise, but even before Steven Gerrard left, the Bears haven’t been that good defensively.
It is just a shame that they were particularly bad on Sunday afternoon, and they have let another chance at a trophy slip away.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst might favour an attacking style of football, but he is going to have to sort out the defence because this isn’t good enough.
Hibs are a good side, and it was always going to be a tough game but to be 3-0 down so quickly in a semi-final is unacceptable.
Miller’s words might have been harsh, but he was spot on, and the Gers have a long way to go to get back to last season’s levels.
In other Rangers news, Miller had his say about an incident involving Joe Aribo in the first half.
