Kenny Miller reacts to Joe Aribo incident in Rangers League Cup clash v Hibernian

Kenny Miller was left stunned by the fast start Rangers made to the League Cup semi-final clash against Hibernian at Hampden Park on Sunday.

With less than a minute on the clock, Joe Aribo was fouled by Paul Hanlon and the Hibs defender was shown a yellow card for his action.

Speaking during live commentary for BBC Sportsound, ex-Ibrox striker Miller delivered his reaction.

“Incredible start from Rangers, straight from the centre,” he said.

“It’s that early in the game, he might just get away with it and it also maybe helps that he’s the captain as well, he might give this one.”

Rangers raced out of the blocks at Hampden Park on Sunday with new manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst watching on.

Hibs were on the backfoot as Joe Newell quickly followed Hanlon into the referee’s book with two yellow cards dished out in the first four minutes.

However, the away side quickly hit back as Martin Boyle struck the opener to stun the Gers faithful in the ninth minute before doubling their advantage 12 minutes later.

Boyle got his hat-trick from the pantly spot in the 38th minute before Scott Arfield pulled one back a minute later.

After a few days filled with positivity after the arrival of van Bronckhorst as Steven Gerrard’s successor, this was the last thing the Gers needed.

However, Arfield’s goal has given them a lifeline and a way back into the game when it looked highly unlikely.
