Rangers confirmed starting line-up v Hibernian

Rangers have made five changes to the starting line-up ahead of their Scottish League Cup semi-final clash with Hibernian at Hampden Park on Sunday.

David McCallum, Jermain Defoe and co have opted to name Borna Barisic, Scott Arfield, Steven Davis, Glen Kamara and Alfredo Morelos back in the starting line-up. It means Calvin Bassey, John Lundstram, Juninho Bacuna, Fashion Sakala and Romania attacker Ianis Hagi have been axed.

Rangers confirmed the team news via their official Twitter account prior to kick-off at Hampden.

Impressing the new boss

It’s a big day for everyone at Rangers.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be watching on from the stands at Hampden Park and each and every Gers player on the pitch will be watched closely by the Dutchman.

If you drop the ball against Hibs, you may find yourself struggling going forward to get game-time and an important role in Gio’s Rangers.

First impressions are absolutely everything and van Bronckhorst will more than likely make plans for the near future based on what he sees on Sunday.

If Rangers fail to make it to the Scottish League Cup final then that will be a massive failure.

Van Bronckhorst will be desperate to get a chance of winning something Steven Gerrard didn’t at Ibrox and while it’s largely out of his hands what happens against Hibs, there’s no doubt he’s had some kind of influence already.

And if players struggle to perform for him at Hampden, do we want them starring in key roles going forward?

Probably not.

In other Rangers news, the Daily Record’s back page after Gio was hired is utterly cringeworthy.
