Tom English: Giovanni van Bronckhorst to disappear into Rangers media vortex

Tom English has fired a bitter jibe at Rangers and Giovanni van Bronckhorst after his appointment this week.

The Dutchman has signed a long-term contract at Ibrox and will be officially unveiled to the media this week.

English took aim at the media “vortex” that Rangers have created with their official partners Heart & Hand taking control of press conferences.

Writing for the BBC last night, English took a bitter swipe at the Bears after their appointment of van Bronckhorst.

“You’d like to know what promises Van Bronckhorst has been made,” he said.

“But he’s now about to disappear into the Rangers ‘media’ vortex where his ‘press conferences’ around domestic competition will largely exist of one man and his dog and where the level of questioning from fan podcasters and website moderators only occasionally stray away from sycophancy.

“This is the odd world Rangers have created.”

Bitter.

English wonders why people such as him aren’t allowed near Ibrox, but then he continues to take aim at the club at every opportunity.

The BBC have a few of those in their ranks, with Michael Stewart springing to mind instantly but their calls will go unheard.

Rangers don’t need to answer to the media if they don’t want to, they are still getting their news, just possibly not exclusively.

Van Bronckhorst is here to do a job and continue this success on the pitch and take it even further, never mind playing up to the media.

The promises made are between him and the club, and moving forward, that is all that matters.
