Sky Sports: Rangers still need work permit for Giovanni van Bronckhorst

Rangers have announced the arrival of Giovanni van Bronckhorst on Thursday evening as they replace Steven Gerrard.

The Dutchman has been linked all week strongly and Ross Wilson has finally got his man after positive talks.

Sky Sports have shared that all may not be finalised yet though, with work permit issues potentially on the table.

Writing on their official Twitter account, Sky shared that the permit needs to be approved before it is over the line.

“Breaking: Rangers have appointed Giovanni van Bronckhorst as their new manager, subject to a work permit,” they wrote.

Here we go.

Hopefully, there shouldn’t be too many problems with this one.

The club wouldn’t have announced it as a done deal if there were any concerns regarding the matter, and yet they have.

Van Bronckhorst is a brilliant replacement for Gerrard, and even better if we say so given his history already with the club.

He knows what it means to give it all for that blue shirt, and no doubt he will do the same on the touchline every single week.

Next on the agenda will be the appointment of his coaching staff, although there is still a strong backbone left behind at Auchenhowie.

The likes of Jermain Defoe have been taking training this week, and they will likely take charge against Hibs on Sunday.

Van Bronckhorst will likely watch from the stands and take charge of his first game in a huge clash with Sparta Prague on Thursday.

In other Rangers news, this coach could be set to follow van Bronckhorst to Ibrox this week
