Rangers to finalise deals for Roy Makaay, Arno Phillips & Tori Bosschart this weekend

Rangers have moved on quickly to secure the backroom staff of Giovanni van Bronckhorst after his appointment this week.

The Dutchman has put together a brilliant list of names including legendary forward Roy Makaay, who is set for a coaching role.

Alongside Arno Phillips and Tori Bosschart, the Daily Record report that those three deals should be concluded over the weekend.

Van Bronckhorst will watch from the stands on Sunday against Hibs, with his first training session currently set for Tuesday.

With a crunch clash against Sparta Prague on Thursday evening, he will want the majority of his team through the door by then.

David McCallum and Jermain Defoe are just two of the four currently in charge at Auchenhowie, and they will no doubt be vital moving forward.

As for van Bronckhorst’s work permit, that is said to be likely resolved within the next week too, leaving no door open to doubt.

Brilliant.

This is exactly what we wanted to see, the club moving quickly but leaving no stone unturned in their bid to replace Steven Gerrard and more importantly, his team.

Michael Beale was the one loss that hit everyone, but bringing in the likes of Makaay will be perfect and potentially other big names could follow.

That is the magnitude of this appointment, with van Bronckhorst having so many brilliant connections that could take the Bears even further.

With those three likely in place, other deals will start to take shape, with more staff said to be wanted at Ibrox as this new era begins.
