Rangers talks with Jean-Paul van Gastel collapse with deal off
Rangers talks with Jean-Paul van Gastel have collapsed this week as they search for an assistant to Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The Daily Record has reported that the Dutchman was wanting his long-term assistant with him at Ibrox, but that will no longer happen.
Van Gastel will instead remain in China where he is currently managing Guangzhou and that is not set to change anytime soon.

The club now remains in talks looking to seal a deal for a new assistant coach as van Bronckhorst puts the finishing touches on his team.
With talks ongoing with another candidate, it shouldn’t be long until another name fills that role moving forward.
Despite van Gastel being out of contract in China at the end of the year, talks have proved difficult this week.
Guangzhou are said to be interested in keeping the coach, and now it looks as though that is bound to happen rather than a move to Ibrox.
Who now?
There have been talks of others such as Barry Ferguson filling the role, but that appears to just be talk at this stage with no concrete evidence behind it.
Van Bronckhorst will certainly want his number two in place before his first training session on Tuesday, that is for sure.
Roy Makaay will be alongside him at Hampden Park on Sunday afternoon in that crucial semi-final against Hibernian.
Hopefully, Ross Wilson and his team can iron this one out quickly and a new face can be brought into the new-look backroom staff imminently.
Having said that, there is no need to rush and appoint the wrong man, with the likes of David McCallum set to remain at the club.
