Rangers international players set to return to Auchenhowie ahead of manager appointment

Rangers are expecting their international players back at Auchenhowie in the coming hours, according to the Daily Record.

The players look set to be welcomed by the temporary coaching staff including Jermain Defoe rather than a new management team.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been strongly linked, but it is reported that the temporary staff will be setting the agenda ahead of the semi-final with Hibs on Sunday.

Writing in their live blog this morning, the Daily Record shared the latest state of play ahead of another busy Tuesday.

“Expectant fans want Gio van Bronckhorst now but it appears the temporary team will set the agenda ahead of Sunday’s semi-final,” they wrote.

“Rangers will not be rushed in their search for their next boss as they look to get it right in the wake of Steven Gerrard’s exit.

“International players will be due back in the coming hours as Defoe and Co look to map out a plan for a pivotal fixture against Hibs.”

Nothing in place.

In an ideal world, Rangers will surely have liked to have had their new manager in place ahead of today.

Then, the international players will have arrived back to make a full squad and start training with new methods under whoever takes charge.

Van Bronckhorst is said to have been waiting for contact from the club, and this unnamed candidate that they have teased must have made an impact.

The Dutchman is the perfect candidate surely, and there is hope that it can be done over the next 24 hours.

Bringing someone in closer to the crunch clash with Hibs could disrupt the flow within the squad if things are changed.

Hopefully, that won’t change much and whoever takes charge can initially blend into this makeshift management team perfectly and start the ball rolling instantly.
