Jim White: Rangers remain tight-lipped after new manager talks at weekend, no announcement imminent

Jim White has insisted that Rangers are remaining tight-lipped after holding talks with managerial candidates this weekend.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst remains the clear favourite after he met with Ross Wilson on Saturday afternoon in London.

One text White did receive was that an official announcement is not expected before this afternoon in Glasgow.

Speaking on talkSPORT this morning, White shared that he is pushing to find out if there is any news coming from Ibrox.

“No word out of Rangers this morning,” he said.

“We’re trying to find out if they’re getting closer to an announcement there, we will see. Giovanni van Bronckhorst seems to be the favourite to land the job that Steven Gerrard had.

“We don’t expect an official announcement before 1:00pm, that’s just come from someone inside the club.”

Not imminent.

White is one of the most reliable sources, and it looks as though he has close friends within the club at Ibrox.

Whoever this may be sharing the information, it looks as though the announcement won’t be coming before the end of play on Monday.

Van Bronckhorst has been in positive talks and the vision of both him and the club are said to have aligned.

It looks as though everything is heading in the right direction for the Dutchman to be confirmed, but Wilson is leaving no stone unturned.

White will be one of the first to break news should it happen, but it looks as though today will not be the day – all eyes on tomorrow?
