Steven Thompson stunned by Rangers star Nathan Patterson goal for Scotland
Rangers sensation Nathan Patterson certainly had a night to remember in Scotland’s huge win over Moldova in World Cup qualifying on Friday.
The right-wing back helped Steve Clarke’s men seal a play-off spot to qualify for the World Cup in 2022 next year.
Not only that, but Patterson fired home his first international goal, something that left Steven Thompson stunned.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound on Friday evening, Thompson was thrilled by Patterson’s first strike for his country on the biggest stage.
“What a brilliant bit of play from Scotland, absolutely magnificent,” he said.
“On his weaker foot, the finish is emphatic. What a time to score.”

Wow.
What a moment this was, and it was a piece of history that was actually a very long time in the making.
Patterson was the first Rangers player to score for Scotland since Steven Naismith, with the previous goal coming 10 years ago.
That stunned Ally McCoist live on Sky Sports, and even we couldn’t believe that stat as it was reeled off for all to hear.
Patterson is set for another fresh start at Ibrox in the next week, with a new manager expected very shortly to replace Steven Gerrard.
Should he impress, he could take the spot of James Tavernier, and although that is unlikely, he has certainly got off to a good start.
After picking up a yellow in Moldova, Patterson’s international break is over due to suspension, and he can return to Glasgow a happy man this week ahead of a huge new welcome.
