Crunch Giovanni van Bronckhorst talks today, Rangers ready to appoint before Hibs clash

Rangers are set to finalise a deal for Giovanni van Bronckhorst which will give him time to prepare for the clash with Hibernian next week.

The Daily Record has reported that crunch talks are set in London this afternoon, as he closes in on the job to replace Steven Gerrard.

It is suggested that the only things left to clear up are transfer assurances and his backroom staff, which both look straightforward.

Van Bronckhorst has made it clear that he was willing to jump on a plane to the United Kingdom at any stage this week.

That has happened, and all roads are leading to a new appointment in the next 48 hours from Ross Wilson.

It couldn’t be a bigger start for the former Bears star upon his return to Ibrox either, with that semi-final against Hibs being followed by a crunch European night with Sparta Prague.

After spells in China and with Feyenood, it looks as though this is the perfect challenge for Van Bronckhorst, who is ready to deliver more silverware.

Perfect.

This is the man we all wanted, and it looks likely now.

It is set up perfectly for Van Bronckhorst to instantly re-make a name for himself at Ibrox, with the Scottish Premiership and cup competitions in his own hands.

Starting four points ahead of Celtic and in a semi-final? Any manager would simply snap your hands off for that.

It’s time to forget about Gerrard, who has gone now and it looks as though it is the Van Bronckhorst era to follow.

There is no better choice.
