Daily Record moot Frank Lampard to become serious contender for Rangers job

Frank Lampard has been mooted to become a potential serious contender for the vacant Rangers job on Friday.

The former Chelsea man has been linked with the role, but things could have taken a serious twist this afternoon.

The Daily Record mooted a potential twist after Lampard pulled out of the race to become the next manager of Norwich City.

Writing in their live blog this afternoon, the Daily Record made the suggestion that could change everything.

“Frank Lampard has pulled out of the running to become the next Norwich City boss so could he now become a more serious contender for the vacant Ibrox job?” they wrote.

“The 43-year-old out has been out of work since leaving Chelsea last season and was previously in charge of Derby County for what was his first managerial job.”

Watching closely.

Ross Wilson is said to have been organising talks to begin over the weekend, with three names said to be in the running at Ibrox.

Giovanni van Bronkhorst appears to be the frontrunner to replace Steven Gerrard, but could things change?

Adaptability could be key, and given that Lampard is said to have decided against Norwich, the Bears could make a move.

Going from fragile links to a serious contender would change everything, and this huge development on Friday could see that happen.

Time will tell, but it looks as though Van Bronkhorst is the one to watch at this stage, and he would easily be the better option.
