Charlie Adam makes Ibrox return admission after Gerrard exit

Former Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam has refused to rule himself out of a shock Ibrox return.

The former Liverpool midfielder is currently playing for Dundee where he is the skipper of the club. He is a key player for James McPake and are looking to remain in the Scottish Premiership.

Adam has suggested that he dreams of starting a coaching career, and has refused to rule out a move to Ibrox, saying “you can never rule anything out.”

The 35-year-old has remained coy when asked whether he would welcome a call from Rangers following Steven Gerrard’s exit.

Adam has suggested that whoever becomes the next manager at Rangers will bring in their own people as he expects Gerrard to take majority, if not all, of their staff members with him at Villa.

“These discussions take place, there’s always names,” said Adam to talkSPORT (via The Daily Record).

“In football, you know things change quickly, I am still playing but you can never rule anything out.

“Coaching is something I’m looking forward to doing when I do finish and do retire.”

Rangers next boss

While Adam is probably not even in Rangers’ planning at the moment, it remains to be seen who becomes the next manager for us.

Gerrard has done an incredible job, and we need the right appointment to take the club further.

If the widespread reports are to be believed, Giovanni van Bronckhorst is one of the favourites to replace Gerrard.

The Dutchman knows the club very well, having played for the Gers for three years, where he won five trophies at the club.

He would be a popular choice among the fans as well, and would command instant dressing room respect.

Gerrard’s England teammate, Frank Lampard, could be another option. He did a brilliant job at Derby County and had managed Chelsea for a period of 18 months.

During his time at the Blues, he has shown the propensity to groom young talents, which should attract Rangers while appointing their next manager.

The likes of Gennaro Gattuso, Sean Dyche, and Derek McInnes have been mentioned as potential candidates as well.
