Sky Sports: Aston Villa yet to single out preferred candidate as Gerrard talks mooted
Aston Villa are yet to single out their preferred manager candidate despite strong links to Rangers man Steven Gerrard.
Sky Sports have shared the latest news on their blog on Tuesday, as links to the Bears boss intensify.
It has been suggested that Villa are set to make a formal approach to the Scottish Champions, although that has yet to happen.

Writing in their breaking news blog throughout the day, Sky Sports shared the latest with three names mentioned.
“Aston Villa have yet to identify their preferred candidate for the role of head coach.
“Steven Gerrard and Roberto Martinez remain the frontrunners, with Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand also being considered.”

Calm down?
Nothing official has yet come out, and until that happens, it appears as though there is a mountain being made out of a molehill.
Gerrard and his team will be working hard at Auchenhowie over the break unless something concrete comes up such as an approach or the two clubs agree a compensation package.
Pundits are bigging up the potential of Gerrard moving to the Premier League, and that will continue to happen once any job comes up in that decision.
Villa still have many decisions to make before anything happens, and that is the same for the likes of Roberto Martinez.
Official club partner Heart & Hand shared earlier this afternoon that no approach has been made as of yet, and it looks as though we are in for a nervous international break.
Whether we like it or not, Gerrard has earned the right to be linked to jobs away from Glasgow, and the decision is down to him – let’s hope he makes the right one if it comes down to it.
