Darren Gough delivers verdict on Steven Gerrard-Aston Villa link
Darren Gough has suggested on talkSPORT that Steven Gerrard doesn’t need to leave Rangers if keeps enjoying where he is at the moment.
Gerrard has been heavily linked with a move to Aston Villa, following the sacking of Dean Smith.
It has been reported by The Telegraph that Gerrard is open to joining the Premier League club, with Villa needing to pay Rangers £2million in compensation.

Gerrard has two years left on his current Ibrox deal, and it has been suggested that Villa are also willing to hire his backroom staff.
Gough has suggested that “communication” is key here. If Gerrard is happy at Rangers, and keep improving the squad as Sir Alex Ferguson did, there’s no reason for him to leave.
“If he is enjoying there, and if he is getting everything he wants and if he sees them progressing better than they already are or he thinks he took them as far as he can – these are the things he has to work for himself.
“Remember, communication. Keeping it fresh and believe that you can keep it fresh. It’s about keeping it fresh. If he can keep doing that, and keeps churning success. Why would he want to move?”
Exit looks likely
As of now, Rangers haven’t received any formal offer from Villa.
However, it seems Gerrard is open to the idea of joining Villa Park. He has done a terrific job at Rangers and gave them the league title last season.

The Gers fans will understand the decision if he moves on.
It will be a huge blow for Rangers if Gerrard moves on, and the club will have to look for another manager for the first time in many years.
Rangers have one of the best coaching set-ups in the country, and it will be a massive blow to lose the entire backroom staff along with Gerrard.
Does it come as a really big shock that Rangers would allow Gerrard to leave for a paltry fee of £2m? Definitely, it should be higher.
