Simon Jordan: Steven Gerrard isn’t shoo-in for Liverpool job
Simon Jordan has insisted that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard isn’t a shoo-in to take over at Liverpool in the future.
Gerrard was at the heart of the conversation on talkSPORT this morning after being strongly linked with Aston Villa.
Danny Murphy hit back at Jordan, insisting that his former teammate has never once come out and admitted he deserves the job in Merseyside.

Speaking live on talkSPORT this morning, Jordan shut down the widely-spread story that Gerrard will move to Anfield.
“There is also this assumption that it’s a shoo-in that Gerrard is going to manage Liverpool,” he said.
“I know he’s your mate, but I’m not in that camp.”
Murphy responded to those claims and defended Gerrard for what he has said regarding the Liverpool job in the past.
“I’ve seen him do interviews where he constantly plays that down, he actually talks about the fact that he’s got to be good enough to manage Liverpool.
“At the moment, he’s not there.”

Can’t help himself.
Jordan couldn’t help himself all morning on talkSPORT and consistently kept digging at Gerrard and Rangers.
Time and time again, the former Crystal Palace owner constantly pokes at Scottish football and how bad it is in his eyes.
Even when that isn’t on the table, he suggests that the Bears are simply a stepping stone to the Premier League and he continues to push that narrative.
We have seen Newcastle and Everton come and go, so if Aston Villa miss out on Gerrard, that point is immediately blown out of the water.
This one simply won’t happen, we are quite confident that nothing about it will appeal to Gerrard compared to Ibrox – move along.
