Simon Jordan hits back at Jim White claim on Steven Gerrard & Rangers

Simon Jordan has insisted that Rangers are simply a stepping stone in the managerial career of Steven Gerrard.

Aston Villa are the latest Premier League club linked with a move for the Ibrox gaffer, with talks expected soon.

Jim White started the heated debate by hitting back at suggestions that the likes of Rangers are stepping stones to the Premier League.

Speaking on talkSPORT this morning, Jordan hit back at claims that Gerrard views the Bears as a stepping stone.

“Rangers don’t want to be seen as a stepping stone, nor do Villa,” he said.

Jordan hit back at White and insisted that Gerrard may need another job before making the move to Anfield.

“Tragically, whether you like it or not, they are,” he said.

“It’s not being disrespectful to the two major Scottish clubs, there is an assumption, and I’m not in that camp yet that Steven Gerrard is an elite manager.

“I think it’s absolutely right that a stepping stone comes between him and Liverpool because I think the gap is significant.”

No chance.

In no world is Gerrard treating this spell at Ibrox as a stepping stone.

When strongly linked with the Liverpool job last year, he came out and shot them down, claiming that Jurgen Klopp is the only man for the job and it is far too early for him to be thinking about that.

So, in what world would he come out and accept a job at Aston Villa, who are dangerously lingering above the relegation zone in the Premier League.

We have already seen links with Everton and Newcastle come and go in the past six months, and we expect this role to fly by in the exact same manner.

Gerrard is committed to winning another Scottish Premiership title and bringing Champions League football back to Ibrox, only then will he consider another job after bringing the good times back.
