Chris Sutton fires jibe at Darrell Currie as Ally McCoist blasts Celtic

Ally McCoist was left fuming with Rangers after their display in the 1-1 draw against Brondby on Thursday evening.

The Bears failed to grab all three points in the Europa League, with Leon Balogun’s own-goal the home side’s first in the competition all season.

Darrell Currie pointed that out, something that left him in the crosshairs of Chris Sutton in the live debate chat show.

Speaking on BT Sports Scottish Football Extra last night, McCoist made it clear he wasn’t very impressed with what he saw.

“That’s what they were, bang average,” he said.

Darrell Currie then reminded McCoist that Brondby hadn’t scored in the Europa League this season before Thursday’s game.

“I had written down there, one goal in four games. It’s all there – preparation, you know me,” he joked.

Sutton wasn’t impressed, having a good laugh at the expense of Currie on the late-aired show last night.

“Hang on Darrell, you don’t need to bang Ally up all the time,” he moaned.

Hang on.

We think this was more of Sutton having a good laugh and reminded the Rangers contingent of that shocking stat.

Brondby were poor and the own goal wasn’t much better, and it was something that really wasn’t needed on the stroke of half-time in Denmark.

Having said that, the response was good and at least we didn’t end up losing, but as Steven Gerrard said, the game was there for the taking and we missed out.

All roads are now leading to the showdown against Sparta Prague at Ibrox, win that, and all can assume the knockout phases are calling.

Should we leave with nothing, it looks as though the Conference League is awaiting the Bears, most likely with Celtic too.
