Stephen Craigan & Alex Rae shocked by Fashion Sakala yellow in Rangers clash v Brondby

Rangers managed to claw back and draw 1-1 against Brondby in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Fashion Sakala kept his spot after his goalscoring antics at Motherwell, but missed chances and was booked before being dragged off in Denmark.

Alex Rae and Stephen Craigan were far from pleased with that though, slamming the officials for the decision.

Speaking during live commentary on BT Sports this evening, Rae started the reaction to the decision with a simple statement.

“Ridiculous,” he said.

Craigan continued the major complaint, insisting that there was no chance Sakala should have been cautioned.

“How the fourth official can see that from further away than the referee, I think he’s quite unlucky there.”

Embarrassing.

How on earth this one was a booking, we still don’t know.

Sakala was sprinting side-by-side with the defender, who decided to slide and then ended up underneath the Zambian.

Common sense would suggest that would lead to Sakala accidentally standing on his opponent, so there was definitely no intent, but yet he was still booked.

Craigan suggested it was the fourth official who informed the referee, who then gave the booking, and unless he has superpower vision, there is no chance he saw that.

Sakala is one of the nicest and most harmless men in football, you could see that in his interviews over the weekend, so this decision was wrong.

Thankfully, it didn’t escalate and the wrong colour card came out, but still, Sakala is right to feel aggrieved, just as Rae and Craigan were.
