Joe Rothwell set on making Rangers move despite Premier League interest - report

Rangers appear to be closing in on the pre-contract signing of Blackburn Rovers midfielder Joe Rothwell.

TEAMtalk have reported that the Bears are confident of securing the agreement in January, leading to the free signing next summer.

As well as the Light Blues, numerous Premier League clubs including Leeds and Newcastle are also interested in making the move.

Thankfully, Rothwell appears to be eyeing the move to Ibrox.

It is suggested in the same report that the 26-year-old is set on making the move to Glasgow as he plots his next career move.

Tony Mowbray has described the midfield man as “amazing” already this season and even suggested he is ready for the English Premier League.

Ross Wilson will be ready to make his move in January, and could even offer some kind of fee to bring him to Ibrox earlier than next summer.

Get it done.

Why wouldn’t Rothwell want to seal the move to Ibrox?

Steven Gerrard, one of England’s best-ever midfielders is still at the helm and he could easily transform him into one of the best – just as he has done with the likes of Glen Kamara.

As well as that, there is the real chance of winning consistent silverware in the league and domestic cups – something those Premier League clubs won’t be able to do right now.

Should the Bears win the title this season, they would also offer Rothwell guaranteed Champions League football – not bad for someone currently at Blackburn.

It is time to get this one done early and take away the slim chance of one of those Premier League clubs making their move first.
