Rangers man Leon Balogun withdrawn with injury during Nigeria's game

Rangers star Leon Balogun was withdrawn from Nigeria’s 2-0 win over the Central African Republic with an apparent injury.

The Daily Record claim that the 33-year-old atoned for his error on Thursday and scored in the Super Eagles’ 2-0 win but then went off in the second half with an injury.

They claim that Steven Gerrard will be “sweating” over the fitness of the centre-back with the Gers playing Hearts in six days.

Bad news for Rangers.

Given that Filip Helander is injured, the last thing that Gerrard needs is yet more injuries to defenders [Rangers’ official Twitter account].

Balogun has played ten games this season and had been forming a partnership with Connor Goldson.

However, if this is a bad injury, then you would think Balogun will definitely miss the Hearts game at Ibrox on Saturday.

We now just have to wait and see what the damage is, but after scoring the opening goal, he must have been thinking that this was a dream afternoon.

However, that joy was cut short, and the Gers and Balogun now have a nervous wait to see exactly how bad the injury is.

We hope that he is fine because the Gers don’t really have that many options in the centre of their defence and could do with having Balogun fit and available for the foreseeable future.

Jack Simpson may now be given the nod over the weekend, but given his form, everyone will be crossing their fingers over the fitness of Balogun.

In other Rangers news, one loan player has had his say on a big moment for him.
