Steve Clarke believes Rangers man Nathan Patterson can be secret weapon for Scotland
Rangers man Nathan Patterson can be Scotland’s secret weapon against Israel, according to Steve Clarke.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference [Daily Record] before Scotland face Israel, the Tartan Army’s boss was asked about Patterson and Billy Gilmour and whether they could prove the difference.
It seems as if Clarke believes that could be the case with the two newcomers not facing the familiar rivals of the Scots.
He said: “They can be. Listen, they will have watched us.
“They will have watched Nathan play for us and watched Billy for us. I’m sure they do their homework as diligently as we do ours.
“But it’s nice because I feel we keep evolving. You talk about bringing in the younger ones, and that just helps to keep the squad evolving.”
Patterson has a long and bright international future.
Given that Patterson is just 19, he has already made three appearances for the senior team for Scotland.
He has played well in most of those games and appears to be growing as a player with each passing game.
Now, Gers fans know just how good he can be, and it will be fascinating to see how he does for his country tonight if he is given the nod.
Patterson looks as if he has a huge future ahead of him, and it is nice to see Clarke speaking positively about both him and Gilmour.
The player was the subject of interest from Everton over the summer, but the Gers managed to hold on, and hopefully, they can continue holding on for many years to come because he will only get better and better.
The future looks very bright for Patterson, and you would think he is going to have a long international career.
