Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo shuts down transfer focus

Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo has suggested that he is currently not looking to move away from Ibrox.

The 25-year-old joined the Gers from Charlton Athletic in 2019 and has established himself as a key player under Steven Gerrard.

Last season, he managed eight goals in all competitions and has been brilliant so far in the current campaign.

Aribo has a contract at the Ibrox club until 2023 and there has been no indication as of now about a new deal being offered to him.

However, the Nigeria international does not seem perturbed and he has claimed that he is fully focused on doing his best for Rangers.

“I am not focused with anything that is coming outside of football,” Aribo told Nigerian radio station Brila FM, via Glasgow Times.

“I’m just focused on what’s going on with my club, and me and my club – so that’s all I care about and that’s what I want to be doing.”

Top player

Aribo has been a mainstay in the Ibrox first team this season and has scored two goals already.

The best feature of his game is versatility. He has played in multiple positions under Gerrard, from left-back to right-wing.

Last season after a 3-0 win over Livingston, the Rangers boss was full of praise for the dynamic midfielder.

Aribo played as a left-back on that day and he looked so comfortable. Gerrard suggested that he is one of the best players [Glasgow Times] in the league and even hailed him as a “top player” [Daily Record].

Aribo has suggested that playing in multiple roles has helped him grow as a player, but he wants to add more goals to his name this season.

Rangers haven’t been at their best so far, but Aribo has impressed. The Gers should now look to offer him a new deal, although the midfielder doesn’t seem distracted.
