Rangers defender Connor Goldson ruled out of Sparta Prague clash
Rangers will reportedly be without the services of defender Connor Goldson for their Europa League clash against Sparta Prague on Thursday night.
According to Heart and Hand podcast, the club’s official media partner, Steven Gerrard will have to do without the services of the 28-year-old.
They have claimed that Goldson has not even travelled with the team and will play no role in Thursday’s game.
Rangers are already missing the services of Filip Helander so having Goldson ruled out too is going to come as a major blow.
Having lost their first game, Gerrard knows that losing two on the spin could have devastating effects on their Europa League campaign.
Having already suffered one European blow earlier this season, when they got knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers, the Gers boss will not want history repeating itself.
The 28-year-old has been one of the Ibrox outfit’s most reliable custodians, and Andy Walker has previously labelled him “magnificent” on Sky Sports [06/08/21].
Magnificent is actually selling him short and one can see just what he brings to Gerrard’s side.
While he may not have the armband on, he is a true leader and organiser of the defence and his absence will be felt severely on Thursday night.
Hopefully, the Ibrox side can rally in his absence and put in a spirited performance in Europe and help guide the team to their first win.
