Tam McManus: Leigh Griffiths to get pelted by Rangers fans
Tam McManus has backed the Rangers fans to give Dundee forward Leigh Griffith “absolute pelters” this afternoon.
The Celtic loanee has made the headlines this week by kicking a flare back into the St Johnstone fans, which could lead to a potential ban.
McManus has delivered a message to Griffiths, urging him to silence the Bears by smashing the ball into the back of the net.
Speaking on PLZ Soccer in the build-up to the game, McManus joked about the situation facing the striker.
“Can you play with Air Pods in?” he joked.
“He’s going to get absolute pelters, but the best thing to do is put the ball in the net and silence them – I’ve been on the end of that myself.
“The best thing is not to react and stick the ball in the net.”
Steven Gerrard will be urging his side to stick to their game this afternoon.
The environment will be hostile, everyone will know that but the Bears need to manage the occasion and take control of the game as early as possible.
Griffiths is known to react, as he did in midweek, so leave the fans to whatever they want to do and do what you need to do on the pitch.
Given his history with the Bears, such as that moment tying the Celtic scarf to the posts at Ibrox, the striker himself will be desperate to find the back of the net.
That can’t be allowed to happen, and it’s time to put this one to bed as soon as possible and move away on to the next one.
