Craig Moore criticises Rangers' transfer business

Rangers TV pundit Craig Moore has ripped into his former club for their transfer business in the last summer transfer window.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, the Australian revealed that he thinks the Gers have only signed “squad fillers” and not got anyone to actually improve the starting XI [Daily Record].

Therefore, he doesn’t seem convinced that Rangers can reach the next level as, in his opinion, they haven’t improved their starting XI.

He said: “When you are champions, you need to be able to strengthen. I have been in that position where you have won a league title, and then all of a sudden, an unbelievable signing walks through the door.

“Rangers haven’t done that.

“In my opinion, they have gone for squad fillers.”

Harsh but fair? Or too early to judge?

In the last summer transfer window, the Gers signed John Lundstram, Juninho Bacuna, Fashion Sakala, and Nnamdi Ofoborh.

Now, Ofoborh hasn’t played yet because of concern over his medical, while Bacuna has only played two games.

The only two who have played a decent number of times are Lundstram and Sakala.

The former Sheffield United midfielder has made ten appearances in which he has scored one goal.

However, he has turned in some poor performances for the Gers, and it could take a little while for him to get up to speed with what Steven Gerrard wants, but he has proven in the past that he is a good footballer and in time, he will make a big impression [PLZ Soccer].

Sakala has made eight appearances in which he has scored one goal, but he has only started two matches, so again, he hasn’t really been given a proper chance yet, and we look forward to seeing more from him.

We believe that Moore has actually been quite harsh here, and all of the new signings need a bit longer to settle in before we can judge them.

In other Rangers news, one former SPFL player has revealed that his club fined him for defending Kudela in the Kamara incident.
