Steven Gerrard is set to unleash Rangers man Juninho Bacuna against Livingston
Steven Gerrard seems set to hand Rangers man Juninho Bacuna his full first-team debut against Livingston in the Scottish League Cup, according to The Scotsman.
They claim that the new man signed from Huddersfield Town in the last summer transfer window is finally set for his first start.
On Sunday, he came off the bench as a substitute for his debut, and it seems as if the 41-year-old is now set to throw Bacuna in for his first start.
He said: “He’s looking more and more ready now.
“There’s going to be an opportunity for him very soon because he’s looking more ready now than when he first came. He’s fitter, he’s more robust, and he knows a little bit more about our style and how we want to play now. So I think more opportunities for him are imminent.”
Bacuna is finally going to get a chance.
In the 20 minutes that the attacking midfielder was on the field, he impressed, so we think it is fair enough that he is going to be handed his chance from the start.
Bacuna made 81 appearances in the Championship in which he scored 11 goals and provided nine assists, so he has the talent, and we are excited to see more of him.
He has been described as a “big talent” by Gerrard, and he clearly sounds positive about one of his latest additions [Glasgow Times].
Certainly, the Gers have looked a bit stale in a few games this season, so perhaps Bacuna can provide that ingenuity and creativity that they have missed.
The 24-year-old looks like he could be a good addition for the Bears, and we hope he gets his first start on Wednesday as the Gers look to progress in the cup.
