Rangers man Nikola Katic insists he is over his injury nightmare
Rangers defender Nikola Katic insists that he is over his injury woes as he continues to play for Hajduk Split.
Speaking to the Daily Record, the on-loan Gers centre-back revealed that he feels good about his injury and has a very close relationship with Steven Gerrard.
It is clear that the Croatian centre-back is enjoying his loan spell, but it does seem as if he wants to return to Rangers because of his relationship with Gerrard.
He said: “I have a great relationship with Steven Gerrard. Ever since I arrived in Glasgow, he has always been honest with me.
“He was my support during the injury. There were good and bad days, and we had not only a professional but also a friendly relationship. He talked to me every day.
“I’m thrilled with him.
“I don’t have any issues with my injury now. There were some complications during the recovery, so it all took a long time.
“But it’s behind me. I’ve been in full swing for three or four months now. I also played some games.
“Physically, I feel really good, mentally just as great because I am back among my people.”
Rangers could do with Katic now.
The Gers have not had the greatest of starts defensively this season.
Last year, they only conceded 13 goals in the league and the team was built on a solid defence.
However, this season, they have already conceded five in the league.
Filip Helander is also injured, leaving Gerrard with just Connor Goldson, Jack Simpson, and Leon Balogun as first-team centre-backs.
So, you could argue that the Gers could do with Katic at Ibrox, and if things keep going the way they are, and Katic stays fit, then we wouldn’t be surprised to see him recalled in January [Scottish Sun].
The centre-back has been described as a “warrior” by Gerrard in the past, and we would love to see him return and reestablish himself in the heart of the Bears’ defence [Daily Record].
In other Rangers news, Keith Hackett has offered his opinion on Fashion Sakala’s goal on Sunday.
