David Weir hails Rangers star Ryan Kent
David Weir was thrilled with Rangers star Ryan Kent on Thursday night despite the Gers losing 2-0 to Lyon in the Europa League at Ibrox.
Speaking on BT Sport 3, the former Scottish footballer lauded Kent with praise despite his old club falling to defeat in their opening Europa League game.
The 24-year-old has not really hit the heights of last season yet, but he impressed Weir.
He said: “Ryan Kent’s at the heart of everything; he just seems to be involved in most things that have been happening in the offensive third for Rangers.
“He’s really dangerous.”
Is Kent worthy of praise?
The former Liverpool man was at fault for the first goal that the Gers conceded as he gifted possession to Lyon.
The Ligue 1 side then went up the other end and punished the Bears.
Kent fired in some shots and forced the goalkeeper into some saves, and it seems as if he impressed Weir.
However, the winger has struggled for end product this season and needs to find his scoring touch again, or the Gers might struggle to win big games.
In fairness to Rangers, they pushed Lyon all the way, but one quality finish and a horror own goal proved to be the difference.
Kent tried to be a threat and do what he could to get the Gers back into the game, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough on this occasion.
We believe that Kent will get back to his best sooner rather than later, but this just wasn’t his evening.
