Rangers are set for a transfer battle with Celtic over Ciaron Brown
Rangers and Celtic set to battle it out for the signature of Cardiff City defender Ciaron Brown, according to Football League World.
They claim that the Gers and the Bhoys are circling around the 23-year-old, who has yet to sign a new deal at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Both sides can approach Brown with a pre-contract offer in January as his contract expires next summer, and the Bluebirds are struggling to convince him to sign.
Rangers to win the race?
Brown was the subject of interest from Middlesbrough in the last summer transfer window, but that move failed to happen, and Cardiff are trying to convince him to stay [Football League World].
However, they are unlikely to be able to keep him if they continue not playing him.
Mick McCarthy has not played the Northern Ireland international in any of Cardiff’s opening league fixtures, so it is no wonder he hasn’t signed a new deal.
This could work in Rangers’ favour, and they could pull off a similar deal to the one they managed with Nnamdi Ofoborh if they can beat Celtic to his signature.
So, this could certainly be a transfer to keep an eye on as we head into the January transfer window, and we would hope that the Gers could beat Celtic to his signature.
All signs are pointing to more success at Ibrox this season, and that should be a big drawing factor for any young talent chased by the club.
