Athletic Bilbao forward Ewan Urain has praised Rangers duo Kelly and Middleton
Athletic Bilbao forward Ewan Urain has heaped praise on Rangers duo Stephen Kelly and Glenn Middleton.
The young striker has been called up to the Scotland Under-21 squad, and in an interview with the BBC, he lauded both Middleton and Kelly.
The 21-year-old was born in Spain but has a Scottish mother and has played 25 games for the La Liga side’s reserves but is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Basque club.
Urain said: “I think that there are some very special players and to play alongside them is something very special.
“I especially like Glenn. Also, Stephen Kelly, I call him the magician.
“I think they are both very special players, and I learn so much training with them.”
High praise for the Gers duo.
Middleton is currently out on loan with St Johnstone but has made 29 senior appearances for the Gers in which he has scored five goals and provided five assists.
On the other hand, Kelly is still in the reserves for the Gers but has made three senior appearances for Steven Gerrard’s side.
However, Urain clearly thinks that he is a talented player, and it will be intriguing to see if he does get some more first-team game time either this season or next.
Of course, he might have to copy Middleton and go out on loan to another SPFL side, but if that is what it takes to make it at Ibrox, then we are sure that he would go for it.
It is interesting to hear Urain speak about Middleton and Kelly, and we will be watching the pair of them closely this season.
In other Rangers news, Glen Kamara has openly discussed his future.
